Saint Peter's United Church of Christ
History
Saint Peter’s United Church of Christ began in 1959 when a former missionary to Japan began knocking on doors in suburban Reading and inviting interested neighbors to become part of a new church venture.
At first, the members of this new congregation met in each other's homes. When their numbers grew, they held services at Wilson High School and the Odd Fellows Hall of Sinking Spring.
In 1963, the founding members of Saint Peter's built the first church in the round in Berks County and in 1993 added an addition to accommodate growth and increase accessibility.
The bold contemporary design of Saint Peter's United Church of Christ sets the tone for a congregation that continues to grow in outreach and community service while maintaining a strong sense of what it means to be a close and caring church family. We are grateful to have ongoing relationships with Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, and Scouts BSA. We serve God through our partnerships with Western Berks Shepherding Ministries and the Wilson Area Food Pantry
We seek to be a church that shares the love and new life of Jesus with one another and our community. No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ!
